Spring Equinox… The Great Renewal
The Equinox and Solstice’s are festive times in the natural world. We celebrate Mother Earth and her turning cycles and the magical cosmic energetic portals that ebb and flow during these times. The corresponding 8 directional ‘Wheel of the Year’ guides our way as we walk in harmony and resonance with natural cycles and rhythms.
Our modern fast paced world can be quite disconnected from the flow of natural rhythms and how they support our wellbeing, our inner connection and abundant flow if we understand these energetic pathways. The seasons wax and wane in flows of Yin and Yang energy with Autumn and Winter being more Yin (inward/feminine/water) and Spring and Summer being more Yang (outward/masculine/fire). These opposite and complimentary forces weave within and around us creating correspondences in deep meaningful ways.
With the Spring Equinox, we mark the true transition from Winter into Spring and the rising expansive energies needed for nurturing renewal and seed planting. This is a time for intentional focus on what we are choosing to birth into the world and how we are choosing to support our wellbeing and personal journey in expansive nourishing ways. To do this, we need also need to ‘till the soil’ and weed our garden after composting through Autumn and Winter.
As we emerge into these expanding energies, we can declutter our outer environment and detoxify our inner environment to make space for further expansion in our lives! When we plant our seeds, the most important thing is how we nurture them so they they grow healthy and strong. The energy we give them will determine how they flourish and bloom into Summer!
The Air element is also aligned closely with Spring and focuses on the breath and how we can learn to use breathing as a way to both detoxify and nourish our body. The Eagle animal spirit helps us focus our energy during this time and brings in the ‘visionary’ energy to help us dream our dream and take the steps towards inspired and balanced action.
As we draw upon many metaphorical correspondences associated with all the turning seasons, we begin to appreciate a deeper meaning in the way our Mother Earth nurtures all life in balanced loving ways. She provides for us in infinite ways so loving reciprocal connection is worth nurturing with these expansive energies! What we ‘put in’ is what we will ‘get back’ so be generous! Remember, abundance is exponential.
One of my favourite rituals for Spring is carving out some sacred space to sit with the visionary energy and imagine myself as the Eagle soaring above my reality and reflecting on what needs my attention and what new seeds I am intentionally planting for this 3 month cycle. I then map them according to the 3 lunar cycles within the season as a pathway in which to intuitively weave and nurture through balanced inspired action and reflection. I also create a Spring altar that helps me stay focused on my intentions and energetically nurtures them as I connect with them each day.
